What happens at my first appointment?

During our first session we get a chance to get to know each other. It's important to get a clear understanding of what it is you'd like to achieve and how you'd like to achieve it. It's important we get a good understanding of where you're starting from as well and any hurdles we'll have to overcome along the way. We also get to decide if we like each other and want to work together and sort out how we're going to move forward.

What happens next?

If you have felt our first session was of value, then I would suggest we arrange to meet up again weekly for about six weeks. At that point we can take stock. Reflect on our first few weeks together, look at what you've got out of it and make a decision about how we move forward.

How many sessions will I need?

That really depends... I usually suggest that we agree to an initial six sessions and see where we are from there. Most people feel they are making progress quite quickly but how far you want to take our sessions is completely up to you. You are welcome to come along for as long or as short a time as you would like.

How soon can I expect results?

That is a very interesting question. Many people feel a sense of excitement and relief once they have made the first call and booked their first appointment. That feeling of having done something about it, having sought some help, can really be the start of the process.

Through those initial six sessions we'll more than likely explore the problem you're bringing and that can bring up some old memories and feelings. Sometimes they aren't plesant expereinces but the process of sharing them and being understood can really start to create a feeling of liberation.

Within those first few sessions most people know they have done the right thing and are seeing their problem (and themselves) very differently.

Where are you based?

I have a therapy room and fully equipped studio within The Lowgate Centre on Lowgate, in Hull. My studio overlooks the Art Building in Hull College and the car park just next to it. I'm 20mins from Beverley, Swanland, Kirk Ella, Elloughton, Cottingham, Hessle, Willerby or Anlaby and the car park across the road is around £1 an hour.

How much do you charge?

I charge £45 a session. A session is an hour long and I have a 24hr cancellation policy. Block booking rates are available. Do ask...
