What happens at my first appointment?

Personal training is so effective because of the relationship between trainer and client. From that comes the support and the relevance of the advice that makes such a difference. During our first session we get a chance to get to know each other.

It's important to get a clear understanding of what it is you'd like to achieve and how you'd like to achieve it. It's important we get a good understanding of where you're starting from as well and any hurdles we'll have to overcome along the way.

We also get to decide if we like each other and want to work together and sort out how we're going to move forward.

What happens next?

That would depend very much on what you wanted to achieve and what we had discussed in our first session. Normally we would start down one of three routes.

  • If we had decided we needed increased energy and wellbeing forth then we'd start there with some diet and lifestyle advice and support. We'll need to put some energy in before we start spending it.
  • If it was a freedom of movement that was required first then that's where we'd begin by starting to balance your body out with carefully chosen, delicate but effective exercises, or
  • Sometimes we need to start with a bit of mental clarity and liberation, frequently when we can see an issue differently then solutions and inspiration that wasn't there before can spring up from seemingly nowhere.

Where ever we start our objective is to be moving forwards with a clear and positive understanding, with energy and vitality and with liberating and stimulating movement that take us swiftly towards your goals.

How many sessions will I need?

I ask people to commit to an agreed number of sessions over eight weeks. I know that in that time I can really help somebody make a major difference in their life, whatever their goal or starting point.

After that both you and I have a good understanding of how we work together and we can decide where we want to go next.

Nobody is tied in to anything. Life circumstances change and we need to be able to adapt with them. Obviously it's better to make a plan and stick to it but there is flexibility in everything here.

How soon can I expect results?

You can expect to be feeling fitter, slimmer, healthier and more energized within a few sessions rather than a few weeks or months. Everybody is different and such a lot of the answer to this issue depends on how many of the tweaks you can implement and how smoothly we can execute the plan.

The approaches that I use are well tried and tested. It is not uncommon for my clients to get some quite impressive results as you will see in the testimonials throughout the website.

However, it must be stressed that for change to occur, change has to take place. Even with all the support, advice and guidance I can give you, your success depends on you taking responsibility for it.

Where are you based?

I have a fully equipped studio within The Business Centre on Guildhall Road in Hull. We're overlooking Queens Gardens and you can get here in 20mins from Beverley, Swanland, Kirk Ella, Elloughton, Cottingham, Hessle, Willerby or Anlaby and we have a car park at the rear of the building.
